Your privacy is not a formality to us. Kodesh was built with a deliberate philosophy: your personal data belongs to you. This policy explains clearly and honestly what we collect, why, and what we never touch.
When you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier from Apple. This is a random string — not your name, not your email address (unless you choose to share it). We store this identifier solely to associate your subscription tier with your account.
If you subscribe to Kodesh+ or Kodesh+ Scribe, we store your subscription tier, the number of AI insights you have used in the current billing period, and a transaction identifier provided by Apple. This is the minimum needed to provide the service you paid for.
If you enable push notifications, we store the device token Apple assigns to your iPhone. This is used only to send your daily journey reminder. We do not use it for any other purpose and never share it with third parties.
If you contact us through the support form on this website, we receive the content of your message and any email address you choose to provide. We use this only to respond to your inquiry.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifying information beyond what Apple Sign-In provides. We do not collect your location. We do not collect usage analytics, crash reports with personal identifiers, or behavioral tracking data.
Everything you do inside the Kodesh app — your reading progress, highlights, journal entries, bookmarks, and journey state — is stored in your personal iCloud account. It never passes through our servers. We cannot see it, access it, or share it.
The data we store serves exactly one purpose: providing the Kodesh service to you. Your Apple identifier lets us know which subscription tier you have. Your request count lets us know when you have reached your monthly AI insight limit. Your device token lets us send your daily reminder. Nothing else.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except as described below.
Authentication and subscription billing are handled by Apple. Apple's privacy policy governs the data they collect as part of Sign in with Apple and the App Store. We receive only what Apple provides us and nothing more.
When you request an AI insight on a Bible verse, the verse text and your request are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. We do not send any personally identifying information to Anthropic — only the scripture passage you are asking about. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of API data.
Audio narration in Kodesh uses pre-generated voice recordings hosted on our servers. When you download audio for a book or chapter, the files are stored locally on your device. No personal data is sent as part of audio downloads — only the book and chapter identifiers needed to retrieve the correct files.
Our servers may capture standard request metadata such as IP addresses as part of normal operations. These logs are retained only as long as necessary for operational and security purposes.
We retain your account data for as long as you have an active account. If you delete your Kodesh account or request deletion, we will remove your data from our servers within 30 days. Because your personal data lives in iCloud, you can delete it directly from your device at any time through your iCloud settings.
You have the right to request a copy of the data we hold about you, request deletion of your data, and opt out of push notifications at any time through your iPhone's notification settings. You can export your data or delete your account directly within the app under Settings → Account, or contact us through the support page.

Your data may be processed in the United States where our servers are hosted. We rely on standard contractual clauses and the data processing agreements of our service providers (Apple, Anthropic, Railway) to ensure adequate protection of your data.
The data controller for your personal data is Kodeshway, operated as an individual developer based in the United States. Contact us through the support page for any data protection inquiries.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act provides you with additional rights regarding your personal information.

We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA. We do not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account. Upon deletion, we remove your subscriber record, all session data, and all device attestation records from our servers within 24 hours. Data stored in your personal iCloud account (reading progress, highlights, bookmarks) is controlled by you and can be deleted through your iCloud settings.
Kodesh is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users through the app. Continued use of Kodesh after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
